Advancing childhood language development
In 2003, the Scottish Rite Foundation of Colorado established the Kelley Family/Schlessman Family Scottish Rite Masons Chair in Childhood Language Disorders at Children's Hospital Colorado with a $2 million gift.
The Chair was established to help ensure continued leadership in childhood language development sciences at Children's Hospital Colorado and to provide continued coordination of Foundation-supported RiteCare operations in Colorado.

The Foundation honors Dr. Kristin Uhler as the second occupant of this distinguished position.
Kristin M. Uhler, Ph.D.
Dr. Uhler is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and has been affiliated with Children's Hospital Colorado since 2015.
An audiologist by training, Dr. Uhler's work centers on childhood language and supporting families in best practices for healthy development. She holds a prestigious mentored research award from the National Institutes of Health.
Her research focuses on identifying a biomarker for language development in infants, especially infants who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.
