A Colorado tradition of service.
Our mission, vision, and history are centered on helping children with language disorders and their families.
Our Mission
Enhancing quality of life for Colorado children and families.
The mission of the Scottish Rite Foundation of Colorado is to enhance the quality of life for Colorado’s children and their families by supporting high quality, collaborative programs for the prevention and treatment of childhood language disorders.
We support student and professional education and training in the prevention and treatment of childhood language disorders.
Our Vision
All Colorado children with language disorders will have the opportunity to receive treatment and care.
The Foundation works toward a Colorado where children can receive appropriate speech, language, and learning support regardless of where they live.
Our History
It began with one child and a request for help.
In early 1952, a social worker at The Children’s Hospital in Denver approached the Scottish Rite Masonic Fraternity in Denver requesting assistance for a young widowed mother who needed financial help obtaining treatment for her 4-year-old son.
Following a detailed investigation, Scottish Rite Masons presented a proposal to create a foundation dedicated to the treatment of children with language disorders. On November 25, 1952, approximately 500 Scottish Rite Masons gathered in Denver and approved creation of the Scottish Rite Foundation of Colorado.
