William D. Hewit, 33°

Illustrious Brother William D. Hewit, 33˚, served on the Board of Trustees of the Scottish Rite Foundation
of Colorado from August 1998 through July 2003. His guidance and expertise during this extraordinarily noteworthy period in the Foundation’s
existence were invaluable in better positioning the Foundation to serve Colorado’s children with language disorders. Bill endorsed and
supported new program initiatives including expansion of therapy services in Fort Collins and northeastern Colorado as well as pre-school age
reading programs for at-risk children in southwestern Colorado. His support for these initiatives as well as ongoing programs helped enable the
Foundation receive two public awards – the Outstanding Philanthropic Organization in Colorado award for 2002 and the Communities Helping Young
Children award in 2003, the latter being given by the First Lady of Colorado. Bill also supported establishment of the Kelley Family/Schlessman
Family Scottish Rite Masons Chair in Childhood Language Disorders at The Children’s Hospital.
In recognition of his untiring and dedicated service on the Board of Trustees and his sustaining generosity to Colorado’s RiteCare Program,
William D. Hewit, 33°, is recognized with the highest award given by the Scottish Rite Foundation of Colorado.
