About Us

Strategic Planning

The Scottish Rite Foundation of Colorado initiated a strategic planning process in 1999. A long-range planning committee consisting of three Foundation trustees, the Executive Secretary, and the Endowed Chairholder meet semi-annually to review and recommend strategic planning initiatives for the Board of Trustees' consideration. Prior initiatives that have been implemented include:

•Endorsement of major fundraising campaigns
•Endorsement of development initiatives by partnering with non-Masonic organizations
•Continued statewide expansion of program services and locations

First of Its Kind in the Nation

The Scottish Rite Foundation of Colorado is the first childhood language disorders program to be developed by Scottish Rite Masons in the United States. Since the creation of this foundation in 1953, Scottish Rite Masons in other States have developed childhood language disorders programs. More than 165 RiteCare Centers are located in the 35 states comprising the Southern Jurisdiction of Scottish Rite Masonry of which Colorado is a part. In the Northern Jurisdiction (the remaining 15 States), Scottish Rite Masons provide dyslexic children with specialized tutoring to enable them to read and write more effectively. This service is being offered free of charge in 52 32° Masonic Learning Centers in the 15-state jurisdiction. See the foundation’s history page for additional information.

What is Freemasonry?

Freemasonry is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious fraternity in the world. We’re kind of like a civic club, a charitable institution, and a fraternity - all rolled into one. We’re like a civic club in that we do a lot of community and statewide projects. We’re like a major charity in that, nationally, we give more than $2.0 million per day for various charitable causes, especially those focused on children and youth. And like a fraternity, we’re a group of men doing good things for each other - and trying to bring men of good morals and ethics together in our community.

The Masonic mission may be described as the promotion of a way of life that binds like-minded men in a worldwide brotherhood that transcends all religious, ethnic, cultural, social and educational differences; that teaches the great principles of brotherly love, relief, and truth; that exemplifies these qualities through heartwarming fellowship and the outward expression of compassion and concern for others - a group of men who, as individuals and as Masons, always seek to serve God, family, country, and our neighbors.
